Browser support with every version of SharePoint has always been a big question, especially for Enterprises.  With the launch of SharePoint 2013 Server, almost all the major versions of browsers are supported for SharePoint as well as Office Web Apps.

The key thing to note here is that if you want to be fully supported, you need to use the 32 bit version of Internet Explorer 8 and above but almost all major browsers will be supported (with some limitations linked to below).

Other things to note:

  • SharePoint 2013 has much finer grain control of the markup and styling of the reader experience in SharePoint 2013 Publishing Sites, so you can ensure that your public facing web site will work with practically ANY browser
  • There are some ActiveX controls still used in the SharePoint 2013 and really only IE 32 bit browsers support these
